With the accelerating inflation rate, workers urging the Federal Government to give them fair compensation as it plans to review the minimum wage in the country.
Workers, who spoke to us, lamented that the escalating inflationary pressures were taking a serious toll on their finance, eroding their purchasing power.
A civil servant, who identified himself as Opeyemi, said the economic situation was becoming unbearable because most of the prices of food in the market had increased.
He claimed the amount he spent weekly on transport fares to the office had tripled.
Also speaking, another civil servant, who gave her name as Deborah, expressed worry over the rate at which the prices of food were rising daily.
According to Deborah, her salary could no longer be sustained.
Yusuf said, “Our public sector workers even before this new wave of price increases were not properly paid or well paid, especially when you compare the average worker in the private sector to that of the public sector.
