Twitter to reopen offices
New Twitter boss, Parag Agrawal, has said Thursday that he will reopen offices around the world this month but will allow people to work remotely if they wish as many companies end lockdowns put in place to combat the spread of coronavirus. Covid-19.
Google is also preparing to return employees to its Silicon Valley offices in early April, with the expectation that they will work from home just a couple of days a week.
Tech company campuses were abandoned early in the pandemic as the spread of COVID-19 sparked a societal shift toward remote work.
“Business travel is effective again immediately, and all Twitter global offices will open from March 15,” Agrawal said in a series of tweets.
“Wherever you feel most productive and creative is where you will work and that includes WFH (work from home) full time forever.”
He stressed that those who choose to continue working remotely would have to “learn and adapt” given that “distributed work will be much more difficult.”
Agrawal advocated returning to the office, arguing that it nurtured a vibrant company culture.
This month, Google plans to help employees adjust to “hybrid” schedules that mix remote and in-office work, according to US media reports. (TheGuardian)
