Ambassador Obinna Onowu, Nigeria’s Ambassador to the European Union (EU) pledged the country is ready to work closely with the union to improve the supply of coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines in the country.
Onowu, who took this promise when he presented his credentials to Ms Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission in Brussels, also spoke of Nigeria’s willingness to work with the EU to strengthen the country’s health system.
This is indicated in a statement released Sunday by the Nigerian mission in Brussels.
The statement further revealed that the Nigerian envoy is committed to strengthening the country’s bilateral and trade relations with the EU.
During the discussion with von der Leyen, according to the statement, Onowu underscored Nigeria’s willingness to work with global partners to find lasting solutions to the country’s health problems.
The Ambassador also stressed the need for collaboration to address Nigeria’s security challenges and improve bilateral trade between the two partners.
The Nigerian envoy also holds simultaneous accreditation with Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. (NAN)
