Entrepreneurship, the panacea for national unemployment – Ooni
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja 11, says entrepreneurship is the only panacea for unemployment and will pave the way for Nigeria’s economic and educational development.
Ogunwusi made this known to the national micro and small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) winners/nominees of the federal government in Ile-Ife.
According to him, entrepreneurship should be a priority as the engine room of the country to fight against unemployment.
He expressed great concern for the young people, who were mostly unemployed, saying he feared for them because no one knows where God is taking them.
“Am your Cheer Leader; I have a group like this ‘Royal African Youth Leadership Forum’ in which I select 100 each year and reward them with special prizes.
“I bring them to the president and dialogue with them on the way forward,” said the traditional leader.
He said young people are the heartbeat of the nation and they need to be encouraged and empowered.
Ogunwusi then urged the media to always celebrate young people, especially those who are business-oriented with positive stories, rather than spreading negative news about our young people.
In addition, Ms Pemi Folarin, the program’s guest speaker, USA, congratulated the winners and nominees for having the privilege of being among the winners/nominees of MSMEs.
Folarin said however that their start might be small and rough, with firmness they would reach their promised land.
She encouraged them to make sure they package their products in the best way that is acceptable to the general public.
According to her, Ife’s Ooni played a fatherly role in supporting and empowering people, which he would continue to do.
“You don’t know where your products would take you, be diligent in everything you do and make sure you are giving your best for human consumption,” she said.
The winners are Oluwakemi Shobowale, CEO of Glam Concept; Amb. Orioye Gbayisemore, President and CEO of First Moreys Foods; Abiola Adebajo, CEO of Easyblurd.
The others are Adejoke Lasisi, CEO of Planet 3R; Fashola Kolawole (Hanbows; Olatunde Babafemi (Tubi International Investment); Joan Adewale (Agbeke Alaso-Oke Designs); Femi Eniola (OSKY Integrated limited) and IfeOluwa Olatayo (Soupah Kitchen). (NAN)
