 Senate allays Nigerians' fear over fuel subsidy removal

The National Assembly has been urged to ensure it carries out in-depth work on components of the Petroleum Industry Bill as it finalises work on the long-awaited Legislation.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha made the call in Abuja at a retreat organized for Northern lawmakers on the Petroleum Industry Bill.

The SGF said these components include the governance structure, oil and gas taxes and royalties amongst others.

According to him, this would help boost the sector adding that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration remained committed to providing a better legal framework to develop the oil and gas industry and the economy at large.

The Minister of FCT, Mohammed Bello, advised the lawmakers to provide adequate funding for renewable energy and Gas development in the country.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, represented by the House Leader, Ado-Doguwa,
explained that the retreat was not political but for developmental reasons.
