EKEDC explains outage in Badagry

Electricity distribution company Eko (EKEDC) attributed the blackout in some communities of Badagry to broken poles along the Badagry highway in Oko-Afo.

EKEDC’s director-general of corporate communications, Mr Godwin Idemudia, said in Lagos on Tuesday that the incident at Oko-Afo affected four utility poles and some equipment.

“On Monday around 1:46 pm, the Oko-Afo 33KV power supply was faulty due to broken poles at the Temole bus stop along the Badagry highway.

“The incident that occurred affected four utility poles and other company equipment,” he said.

Idemudia said the fallen poles have been removed and the company’s technical team is working hard to resolve the issue.

However, he assured residents that electricity supplies would be restored to affected communities after the repairs.

Idemudia said affected communities in Badagry include Oko-Afo, Aradagun and Igborosun.

“We, therefore, urge customers to be patient, as supply will be restored as soon as these repairs are completed.

“EKEDC deeply regrets any inconvenience caused by this outage,” he said. (NAA)
