Baba replaces Adamu as Nigerian Police boss

President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the appointment of DIG Usman Alkali Baba as acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), succeeding Mohammed Adamu.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, who disclosed the appointment to State House Correspondents on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said it takes immediate effect.

President Buhari had extended the tenure of Mohammed Adamu as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for three months on February 4, 2021.

The former IGP spent two months and three days in office after he was due to retire, having spent 35 years in service.
