Nigeria instructs airlines to resume catering services

Domestic and international airlines operating in Nigeria have been asked to immediately resume catering services which was suspended as part of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. 

Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika disclosed this on Monday at the weekly briefing by members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

While the services were suspended, passengers were offered a bottle of water by some airlines.
The Minister explained that the decision was taken into consideration by the businesses that have been adversely affected by the suspension and comfort of passengers.

He however noted the processes and procedures for the resumption of the services would be revealed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), which will be in line with international practices.

The Minister also noted the reopening of Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu and the Port Harcourt International Airport for international flights were sacrosanct.

He said a simulation exercise would be conducted prior to the opening to ascertain the level of preparedness.
