FCMB’s Ladi Balogun and his sex escapades … How he crashed actress, socialite’s marriages

Let’s face it; work place romance can be dirty if not handled properly. The drama, the emotions, bickering, drop in productivity and bad publicity makes it not always succeed and it is sometimes bad for company image and business, especially when it gets messy.
While First City Monument Bank – FCMB is currently struggling to suppress the sex scandal that is like a tsunami trying to wreck the bank and its Managing Director, Adam Nuru, Otunba Subomi Balogun as well as shareholders are having sleepless nights trying to convince the public that the bank is not home of sex scandals.
It is no doubt that banking legend and founder of FCMB, Otunba Subomi built the financial institution haven put in so much hard work and tenacity.
Over the years he formed a legacy and model for others who succeeded him to follow, but it appears that all his hard work is fast going down the drain in broad daylight.
Following the apex bank’s policy of 10 years tenure-ship for bank Managing Directors, quintessential banker along with other bank CEOs were muscled into relinquishing headship of their banks upon expiration of their two tenures of 5 years each and that saw Ladi Balogun his son assuming office as the new Managing Director of FCMB in 2005.
In his days as managing director of FCMB, which spanned across 2005 to 2015, Ladi Balogun was projected in the media to be notorious with sex scandals.
His alleged extramarital affairs, particularly with beautiful married women made headlines across media platforms.
Prominent among Ladi Balogun’s sex scandals was his alleged obnoxious affair with Nollywood actress, Uche Iwuji which reportedly crashed her marriage to wealthy oil man, Juwon Lawal.
The talented actress who said marrying a Yoruba man has always been her dream, but was prematurely dumped for her adulterous lifestyle.
Another of its kind was his alleged romance with Lagos socialite and fashionista, Uju Murphy which allegedly also led to crashing her marriage to her then husband, Murphy Uzohe.
The latter’s husband openly accused Ladi of sleeping with his wife, taking advantage of her vulnerability while he was away in faraway Japan.
According to media reports, Ladi Balogun’s infidelity casted the last straw on his marriage to Banke which reportedly ended in 2017 in what was described as irreconcilable differences.
In light of the above revelations, coupled with the current scandal ravaging Adam Nuru, can’t it be said that, FCMB is now home of sex scandals?
Meanwhile, we learnt FCMB is generously throwing cash around trying to arrest the tension orchestrated by its MD’s sex scandal with a former subordinate and married woman, Moyo Thomas, a sad development which was said to have caused the sudden demise of Tunde Thomas, but its greatest undoing is that the public seem defiant and not buying its cover up story.
On the other hand, a holistic observation reveals that Adam Nuru is not new to controversies. For instance, he was alleged to have laundered about N573 million for Ibrahim Magu, the embattled former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – EFCC.
Testifying to the Presidential Panel-led by Justice Ayo Salami, Nuru said the alleged N573 million found in the account of Emmanuel Omale, the founder of Divine Hand of God Prophetic Ministries was wrongly posted, and one begins to wonder, has FCMB become a house of commotion of some sort?
Can FCMB survive all of these? Time will tell.
