Interswitch supports NITDA’s National privacy week
Interswitch, the African digital commerce and payment solutions company, has announced its support for the National Privacy Week 2022 organized by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
From January 24 to 28, the week-long activities are themed: “Data Economy in a Digital Economy: Charting Nigeria‘s Data Strategy.”
Mr Griffith Ehebha, Group Risk Director, Interswitch Group, said this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.
Mr Ehebha said that Interswitch remained committed to applying strict measures that keep customers’ personal information secure.
“There is no doubt about the existential threat of cyber attacks around the world. In fact, it is reported as one of the top five highest-rated risks as attacks become more frequent, targeted, and complex.
“At Interswitch, data protection and regulatory compliance are critical to customer trust and sustainable business growth.
“Our support of NITDA’s National Privacy Week stems from our commitment to raising awareness and promoting privacy and data protection best practices,” he added.
He said this year’s event was the second major awareness campaign after the issuance of the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) in 2019, created to ensure that Nigerian companies are consistent with global standards on data protection. and privacy.
“Driven by the need to ensure data protection standards that keep customer data safe, Interswitch’s operations are backed by world-class standards and certifications.
“These include the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), Management System (ISO 27001), Management System (ISO 9001), among others,” he said.
National Privacy Week also features other activities, including a health privacy workshop titled ‘COVID-19 and Privacy: Navigating Data Privacy Rights in a Pandemic’ and data privacy advocacy sessions in high schools. .
There would also be a quiz session to stimulate students’ minds on the importance of keeping information safe while browsing digital platforms.
