The meeting is ongoing ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee meeting that will elect a substantive National Chairman on Thursday.
The meeting which is being held at Bauchi Governors’ lodge behind ECOWAS secretariat in Asokoro has other stakeholders in attendance.
The well attended meeting is chaired by the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum. Others in the meeting are, the former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, Governors of Bauchi, BalaMohammed; Bayelsa, Douye Diri; Rivers, Simi Fubara; Adamawa, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri; Akwa Ibom, Umo Eno; Osun, Demola Adeleke and Delta, Sheriff Oborevwori.
It’s the first meeting between Atiku and Wike since both men fallout ahead of the 2023 elections.
Atiku had clinched the PDP presidential ticket ahead of Wike during the party’s primary. Wike’s attempts to emerge as his running were unsuccessful.
This forced the former Rivers Governor to pull out four of his closest governors from the PDP presidential campaign and offered their support to the All Progressives Congress.
The success of their support led to the appointment of the former Rivers State Governor as the FCT minister while still fighting to remain a PDP member.
