How Tequila inspired my next album – Adekunle Gold

Adekunle Gold

Nigerian singer, Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko popularly known as Adekunle Gold or AG Baby, has revealed his next project “Tequila Ever After” and what inspired the songs.

He disclosed this in a newsletter shared with his fans on Monday.

“How did we even get to Tio Tequila? I know some of you have been wondering. It all started with one shot of tequila. I was in the studio sometime early 2022, and I was in a terrible mood that day. Then someone offered me tequila. I had tequila for the first time ever, and my mood changed. I felt uplifted, energetic, and happy.

“I kept thinking, “What the heck is this?” That studio session ended on such a high note. I stopped being anxious and upset. My mind became clear, and I wrote a beautiful song. “Tio” in Spanish means uncle, Mr., or guy. I decided that day my alias will be Tio Tequila.

“That feeling is what I decided to carry into all of my studio sessions after that day. I wrote all the songs on my next album with an open mind, energetic spirit, and a happy heart. I’m done being anxious or worried about life. I’m ready to start enjoying and celebrating my wins, ready to start living unapologetically. I have reached my “Tequila Ever After,” and I want you to reach the same.

“…my next album is called “TEQUILA EVER AFTER.” I can’t wait for you to hear the magic that I have been working on. I have picked the best songs out of over 60 songs I wrote and recorded, the sweetest music you have ever heard from me.

“This is the album that I’ve had the most fun working on. I started recording during my tour last year. I performed in over 45 cities and soaked in so much culture and rich experiences, and I can definitely say that these experiences influenced my music and sound.

“From Utah to Calgary, Paris to Uganda, and Lagos to Brisbane. I remember sitting in my penthouse in Brisbane, watching the sun set and recording with my team in the room and my tequila of course. It has been a great year and I have poured it all into this album for you.

This is my most versatile album to date and I am excited for you to hear it. Thank you for always supporting me and I know you will do so again on this project.”
