Fubara sworn-in, vows to be hard on criminals, criminalities

Amidst torrential rainfall, Siminalayi Fubara took his oath of office as the fourth elected Governor of Rivers State, thereby taking over from the immediate past Governor Nyesom Wike.

Fubara took the oath along with his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Ordu. It was administered to them by the Chief Judge of Rivers State Justice, Simeon Amadi.

In his inaugural address, Fubara said the successful swearing-in ceremony is a triumph of democracy in Rivers.

He said his administration would strive to deliver good governance to all Rivers people.

Fubara, who acknowledged that there are high expectations from the people of Rivers State, assured the he and his Deputy were equal to the task to deliver purposeful, quality leadership.

“We know the expectations of the people are high, we are equal to the task because we know the terrain, will we will follow the footsteps of the immediate past Governor, his excellency.”

On security, he warned that his administration would go headlong against criminals, and that those found to be perpetrating criminalities would be dealt with no matter how highly placed they were in the society.

“We’ll be hard on criminals and criminalities no matter the position of the perpetrators in the society,” he said.

The new governor announced that a his administration would construct Port Harcourt ring road to help evacuate food and services.

For the civil services, which he called his immediate constituency, “they will enjoy prompt payment of salaries, pensions and gratuity.

“To the opposition, our doors are open to collaborate and develop the State of our dreams,” he added.
