Dangote Sugar factory to begin production in Nasarawa State

The Governor of Nasarawa State, north-central Nigeria, Governor Abdullahi Sule has said that the Dangote Sugar factory would commence production soon in the state.

Gov. Sule made the announcement while playing host to members of the state Correspondents’ Chapel of NUJ in Lafia.

He disclosed that Dangote team for the establishment of the sugar factory is already in Abuja and will be in the state soon.

“The process for the production of sugar takes time. It is not possible to cultivate the 68,000 acquired hectares of land in Tunga, and Awe by Dangote at the same time.

“What you need to do is to start with 100 hectares, if the location is good for the production of sugar cane, then you will expand the production from 100 hectares to 1,000 hectares to 10,000 hectares.

“Then you have to establish a factory for the production of sugar that is how the production of sugar works.

“I want to disclose to you that a team from Dangote are in the state today for the commencement of sugar factory in the state, ‘’ Gov. Sule noted.

He appreciated members of the association for being up and doing in publicising government activities in the state and called for its sustenance.

He further urged them to continue to adhere strictly to their professional ethnics in the interest of peace and development.

The governor said that he had executed and is still executing projects that have a direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state.

Also speaking, the Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Ibrahim Addra, commended Sule for being Media friendly.

Addra also appreciated members of the association for partnering with the state government in publicising its activities.

The Chief Press Secretary however expressed displeasure over some reports that were not factual and advised his colleagues to always balance their stories before going to press.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Chapel Mr Isaac Ukpoju, said that they were at the government house to seek his partnership in their effort to use the media as a viable to aid the development of the state.

He appreciated Sule for all his inclusive administration and called for its sustenance.

The Chairman further assured the governor that members of the press theaters in the state would always do their best to report the activities of the state government to the rest of the world. (VON)
