The Federal Executive Council (FEC) of Nigeria has approved over 200 million Naira for the award of contract for the revised cost and extension of time for consultancy services for Tada/Shonga irrigation project in Kwara State.
Briefing newsmen on the approval, the Minister of Water Resources, Alhaji Sulaiman Adamu, said the consultant had been given additional 24 months and 12 months defect liability period.
He explained that the project was a high-priority one, envisaged to have the potential to improve rice production.
The Minister said FEC had also approved the award of contract for a dedicated power line for the Phase One of the Middle Ogoru irrigation project in Iseyin in Oyo State.
Similarly, the Ministry of Interior got approval to award about 800 million Naira for the procurement of 44 operational and patrol vehicles for newly promoted personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service to Comptrollers and Assistant Comptrollers-General to enhance efficiency.
The Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, said FEC had also approved the award of an over 2 billion Naira contract for the furnishing of the Headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
He explained that the consultancy service on the building had been awarded at over 160 million Naira.
