Governor Soludo to present the 2022 revised budget proposal to Anambra Assembly

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra has written to the House of Assembly on Thursday to receive it on Friday as he planned to present a revised budget proposal for 2022.
House Speaker Uche Okafor announced the date while reading the governor’s letter at Thursday’s plenary session.
In the letter, the governor thanked the legislators for their support and urged them to allow him to fulfil his constitutional duty.
The speaker said, however, that he would write back to the governor to ask for another date, since the proposed date of Friday, May 6, would not be convenient.
“May 6 is Friday and with the looks of things, it will not be convenient to receive the governor, therefore, I will contact the governor’s office to agree on a new date that will be communicated to the members,” he said.
In another letter, Soludo informed the Chamber of the expiration of the mandate of the 21 Local Government Transition Committees on April 28.
In the letter, the governor ordered the presidents of the transition committees to hand over the position to their Heads of Local Government Administration, in the interim.
He said that a new list of nominees for the chairs and members of the transition committee would soon be sent to the Assembly for its consideration and confirmation.
Also in the plenary session on Thursday, Majority Leader Dr Nnamdi Okafor (APGA-Awka South) informed the House that the services of the Secretary, Mr Pius Udo, ended on May 5 and that the nature he hated emptiness.
Okafor noted that it was the responsibility of the House to appoint a new interim secretary and accordingly appointed the deputy secretary, Ms Esther Anetoh, to be appointed as secretary.
The speaker confirmed Anetoh as interim secretary after lawmakers voted by voice and the House adjourned until May 10. (NAN)
