We are changing Ikotun-Igando LCDA for good –Chairman

The Chairman of Ikotun-Igando Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr Lasisi Akinsanya, says his administration is positioning the council to be the best in the state.

Akinsanya made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.

He said that his administration would concentrate on initiatives that would provide succour to the citizens.

He said that his administration had solved the problem of parking spaces in the local government.

“We cleared the thick bush at the back of the Secretariat and free up more spaces for parking of vehicles on the council premises.

“Another ugly trend we met at the council was the indiscriminate positioning of containers in the council area, which we repositioned.

“We made sure that the containers were painted with national colours.

“We also met unpaid salaries and pension arrears of some of our pensionable and non-pensionable staff, which we have also cleared,” Akinsanya said.

He said that his administration undertook the reconstruction of Ikotun Primary Health Centre razed down by hoodlums during the #EndSARS protest.

Akinsanya added that his administration renovated and reconstructed Olukotun Primary School at Ikotun.

According to him, the council purchased two plots of land for a primary school at Anyawale in Iseri Osun.

He disclosed that the construction of befitting classrooms would soon commence at the site.

On infrastructure development, Akinsanya said that the road construction at Ali Momodu Street, Ijegun, was near completion.

He added that a contract had been awarded for an alternative route at Igando to decongest the traffic on the LASU Expressway.

Akinsanya noted that road construction at the Egan-Igando axis was ongoing.

Akinsanya said that road construction work was also ongoing at Egan- Igando axis.

Akinsanya said his administration was concerned about Isheri Road, which is a state road.

“We took it upon ourselves to make enquiries about the road.

“We were reliably informed that the Isheri Osun Road has been captured in the 2022 budget,” Akinsanya said.

In the area of environment, Akinsanya said that the council was in partnership with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and its PSP operators to ensure that the LCDA remained clean at all times.

“Our vision is to take Igando- Ikotun to an enviable position that it is meant to be,” Akinsanya said. (NAN)
