The Federal Government says it has digitalised payments for Nigerian Passports and advised citizens to avoid patronising touts and unscrupulous officials when applying for the documents.
Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola stated this in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, during the rollout of the enhanced e-Passport with Polycarbonate Data Page and other advanced security features.
Speaking on the new application process, the minister noted that a new timeline has been set for fresh passport application and reissue.
In a statement, the Minister says obtaining new passports takes a maximum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 3 weeks for renewals. He urged applicants to make complaints if the stipulated time elapses without the document being issued.
