Tambuwal presents ₦188.5bn budget before state assembly

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has presented a budget of ₦188.5billion for the year 2022 to the Sokoto State House of Assembly.

Tagged “Budget of Accomplishment and Sustainable Development”, the appropriation bill is lower than the current budget which stands at about ₦205 billion.

Gov Tambuwal said capital expenditure would get 59.7% while recurrent will get 40.3%.

He explained that the Education sector would get the largest share with about ₦37.5 billion followed by Health with ₦28.8 billion and Agriculture with ₦22.5 billion.

So far, this is the first time the state is meeting the African Union Target of 15% budget allocation to the health sector, 12% for Agriculture, 10% for Infrastructure with other sectors getting 63%.
