NAFDAC shuts down 27 water factories

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC) has shut down 27 water bottling and processing factories across the country for various offences ranging from non-functional sterilizer and non-quality monitoring and production license.

The Director-General of NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, stated this at the 2021 Association of Table Water Producers of Nigeria conference and conferment of awards.

Professor Adeyeye represented by the director of press and public relations of the agency, Dr Jimoh Abubakar noted that the agency will continue to seek continual standard operations of the association.

President, Association for Table Water Producers of Nigeria (ATWAP) Mrs Clementina Ativie stressed that government cannot alone provide quality drinkable water needed, hence the need to bridge the gap.

She noted that the association with over fifteen thousand members across the country are faced with numerous challenges and called on special intervention fund from the government to subsidize the cost of production.

She maintained that the association was in partnership with the National Environmental Standard Regulations and Enforcement Agency (NESREA) and a recycling technology company that is aimed at reducing carbon food fruit and Malang the country greener by recycling plastic waste. (VON)
