NDE urges youths to leverage training programmes

Nigerian youths have been urged to take advantage of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) training programmes.

The Kwara State Coordinator of the NDE, Mr Timothy Aba gave this advice during an interview with newsmen in Ilorin, the state’s capital.

Aba asked the youths to key into skill acquisition programmes of the agency instead of making themselves available to serve as political thugs during elections and engaging in other social vices, including internet fraud.

The Coordinator also harped on the need for the politicians and affluent individuals as well as corporate organisations to collaborate with the agency in the training of the youths.

He said; “This is one of the best ways the politicians could empower the unemployed youths and make them economically self-reliant.”

He disclosed that NDE has trained over 10,000 youths in different skills in Kwara state, adding that some youths even benefited from its facilities and loan packages, thereby making them self sustaining.

Aba further disclosed that over 4000 youths have also acquired training to access Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) loans which would, in turn, make them become job and wealth creators.

The NDE coordinator noted that the economy of most countries of the world, particularly China is growing fast today due to the skills the citizens have acquired and ventured into and therefore enjoyed Nigerian Youths to key into such ventures. (VON)
