FG to launch new digital platform for MSMEs

The federal government is to launch a digital platform to protect the indigenous products of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs.

The Director, Investment and Promotion, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs Olukemi Arodudu Oluremi made this known in Abuja during a press briefing on the EnjoyNigeria Expo coming up later this year.

She explained that the platform which would be launched after the Expo would assist MSMEs to formalise and standardize their products for export.

The Director stated that already a committee had been set up which has the Corporate Affairs Commission, SON, Trademark registry Department of the Ministry and other relevant agencies as members to ensure that the process is carried out at a subsidized rate.

She explained that the Expo, which is a private sector initiative, is geared towards showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria and harnessing its economic potential.

Mrs Arodudu highlighted some of the activities lined up for the Expo to include exhibition, Business forum and awards to notable Nigerians who had distinguished themselves in the creative industry as well as to innovative participation during the Expo.

The Director also said the EXPO would feature five components, Taste of Nigeria (food value chain), Sound of Nigeria (music), Colours of Nigeria (fashion), Images of Nigeria (movie, photography, painting and sculpture) and Experience Nigeria (Theatre).

The enjoy Nigeria Expo is one of the initiatives of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment aimed at diversifying the economy through MSMEs. (VON)
