The Nigeria Customs Service Kano—Jigawa Command has intercepted contraband items worth N41,398,000 from July 2021 to date.
Comptroller of NSC, Kano—Jigawa Command, Suleiman Pai stated this while briefing journalists in Kano.
He noted that the command will continue to enforce the policy banning the importation of Rice and other foreign products, in a bid to sustaining Nigeria’s local industries.
The items seized include 707 bags of foreign rice, 155 bales of second-hand clothes, 16 Jerry cans of vegetable oil, 150 cartons of spaghetti, 231 cartons of the milky creamer and 8 cartons of macaroni.
Others were 30 packs of mosquito coil, 29 cartons of Coucous, 10 Cartons of Batteries, 6 cartons of sacks of snuff and 185 cartons of unregistered and expired drugs.
Alhaji Suleiman Umar Pai maintained that the command was able to generate the sum of N16,909,520,467 from January 2021 to August 2021.
The seized unregistered and expired drugs were handed over to the State Coordinator of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Alhaji Shaba Mohammad for further investigation and necessary action.
