Governor Yaya Bello of Kogi State
Full operations have commenced at the Kogi mega bus terminal on April 15, having a capacity to accommodate more than 500 vehicles daily, in a bid to ease traffic and reduce accidents along major roads especially on Felele Lokoja Road and as well to give commuters maximum comfort.
The mega bus terminal has started rendering services while fully guarded by security operatives, commuters were seen at the waiting area for inquiries on how they can access the services.
Kogi State Commissioner for transport Baron Okoli in an interview with VON confirmed that the terminal is now functioning well, entry and exit gates in place with enough space of over 30,000 cubic meters to accommodate vehicles and all traders that will be making use of the space. Adding that all facilities are of the standard, NURTW on the ground and the place is fully guarded by security agents.
The commissioner emphasized that the state government had to make it function in order to decongest other terminals around the state including Nataco one of the biggest and very congested.
With the mega terminal in place now all operators at smaller parks in Lokoja are expected to relocate without any further delay.
It is pertinent to note that the mega Terminal was conceived and constructed by the former administration of Idris Wada and was achieved to some extent, however, governor Yahaya Bello took it upon himself to complete the project, making it one of the biggest and standard terminals in Africa fit for public use.
The Kogi Mega Bus Terminal is a giant stride in the transport sector put in place to make transportation easy for travellers across Nigeria as Kogi State connects to South-South, South-East, South-West and the even Northern States of Nigeria.
